This Summer be a California State Junior Lifeguard Youth Aid

Assist in the operation of Ocean Safety/ Education Programs
Open to ages 15-17 years

Position Description

As a California State Parks Youth Aid, you will work under the close supervision of the Junior Lifeguard Program Supervisor, and report directly to an assigned Junior Lifeguard Program Instructor. This uniformed position will work directly with the Lifeguard staff and other Park Personnel in order to develop job skills; quality work habits and leadership qualities though work experience.

Be Trained In:

1. First Aid and CPR
2. Surf Lifesaving Techniques
3. Leadership Skills

Requirements:

1. Minimum age of 15 at time of appointment.
2. Currently enrolled in an accredited high school, or equivalent educational program.
3. Possession of an appropriate work permit required by the California State Educational Code.
4. Willingness, and availability to work all necessary weekdays during the Junior Lifeguard Program operating hours.
5. Physical dexterity needed to complete the following:
   - Competitive 500 yard ocean swim
   - Competitive 100 yard run, 200 yard swim, 100 yard run
   - Competitive oral interview

Tryouts:

When: April 17, 2010 at 8:00am
Where: Seacliff State Beach

How to Apply:

The physical test will be held on at Seacliff State Beach, April 17, 2010 at 8:00am.
For all applicants, parent or legal Guardian must appear to sign a waiver.

Date and Times of interviews will be assigned following the completion of the physical test.

2010 Youth Aide Interviews are scheduled for April 17, 2010.

April 26 - 9:00-5:00 @ LGHQ - CPR
May 2nd 9:00-5:00 @ LGHQ - First Aid
May 15th 9:00-5:00 @ LGHQ - First Aid
May 30th 9:00-5:00 @ LGHQ - First Aid
June 5th 9:00-5:00 @ LGHQ - Youth Aid Hiring
